Work Search Essentials 1: Resumes, Cover Letters, and Career Portfolios

Career Management Professionals must be able to effectively guide clients through searching for and securing work opportunities. This includes developing and maintaining resumes, cover letters, and portfolios. With increasing competition from local and global markets, clients must have work search documents that stand out and get noticed. This course will take an in-depth look into the world of resumes, cover letters, and career portfolio, helping career professionals create documents that better support clientswork-search activities.

For this course, students will be able to choose one of the additional texts. Choose Career Flow and Development for more general educational and career planning tips, strategies, and supports. Choose Career Recovery for more targeted supports for those navigating career transitions within a post-pandemic world. The content of both books is very similar; the vignettes and activities are customized to resonate with the different purposes for each book. Course readings will be mapped to the appropriate chapter numbers for each book.
